Definition Four / Design from Alex Magill

I design websites,
like these:

Real Sunlight

Real Sunlight market and distribute ingeniously designed indoor sunrooms which mimic real sunlight (hence the name) along with the health and the relaxation benefits.

I first worked with them to create a logo and design a brand identity to suit the company and the marketplaces they operate in. From there I designed and developed a website to act as an online brochure for the company.

More recently the company had outgrown their first site and reconsidered their markets. With this in mind they approached me to refresh and re-think the site. I worked with them to plan out a new site around their strategy and add in new functionality and a content management system to allow them to manage the site more effectively.

Where I got involved:

  • Visual identity design
  • Web strategy
  • Site planning
  • User experience design
  • Interface design
  • Development
  • Testing

Dutch CRM

Dutch Consulting, a legal marketing recruitment agency, launched Dutch CRM aimed at a new market and wanted to build a website to act as a quick first port of call for applicants.

I worked with them to plan out the best, most effective way to do this, developed a logo for the new business, and designed and built the website.

Where I got involved:

  • Site planning
  • User experience design
  • Interface design

Insight

Whilst employed by Badenoch & Clark, a large professional services recruitment consultancy, I worked on their market news portal: Insight.

I developed a structure for the site that allowed its readers to explore a huge amount of information with ease. I created an interface for the site to match the informed and accessible tone of the articles and worked with a wordpress developer to see the site live.

To bring articles to life I suggested we use creative commons licensed images from the flickr photo sharing site - something that Insight is still doing today.

Where I got involved:

  • Site planning
  • User experience design
  • Interface design

HR Recruiters' Forum

HR Recruiters' Forum is a community of HR professionals who meet to discuss a variety of topics. The forum and its events are facilitated by the recruitment consultancy: Badenoch & Clark.

Working in-house at Badenoch & Clark I got involved from the very start, developing a visual identity for the forum and a range of branded materials. When they needed a website to communicate with the community and make it easier for HR professionals to join in, I worked with them to plan out the best ways to achieve this. From there I designed, built and maintained the website.
